The Sundowner Hotel - About

The Sundowner Hotel Motel is situated 383km north of Adelaide in the seaside city of Whyalla, the northern gateway to the picturesque Eyre Peninsula, "where the outback meets the sea". Whyalla has an ever growing population of around 24,000 and enjoys some 300 days of sunshine each year, why would you choose anywhere else?

The Sundowner is a great place to stay or relax on the way to other Eyre Peninsula attractions at Port Lincoln, Streaky Bay, Ceduna or Port Augusta.

The Sundowner with its 24 ground floor air conditioned motel units, separate from the main hotel, has ample extra parking for your boat, trailer, caravan, and is well patronised by its regular short and long term staying customers.

The Sports Bar

The Sundowner's Sports Bar offers patrons a comfortable air conditioned environment where you can relax and enjoy an icy cold beer, have a punt on the excellent facilities, try your luck on Tab or KENO, have a game of pool or darts, or have a meal.

A feature of the Sports Bar is two large screen televisions accompanied by 15 other television screens devoted to Austar, Sky Channel, TVN, Read Rating from Queensland, Keno, Fox Sports more than adequately keep any punter up to date with the latest happenings in the world of racing and sport. There is no problem in placing your wager with two TAB terminals operating.

Dining

Sunset Bistro

Relax and enjoy the company of your family and friends for lunch and dinner in the spacious "Sunset Bistro". The Bistro is of the highest standards yet offers all the relaxed colours and comfort suited to our outback-living style.

Choose from our extensive A-la-Carte Menu featuring seafood, schnitzels, pastas and steaks, or if your up to it, the "Big Mans 1 Kg steak", or select from the daily specials Board. Finish off your meal with a fresh dessert and a coffee. All meals include the tantalising fresh salad and hot vegetable bar.

Kids have not been forgotten with their own menu.

Big Man’s 1kg Club

For the adventurous meat eater, the Sundowner is renowned for its 1KG STEAK, and once you have eaten your steak, you are presented with a T-Shirt to take away with you, to show your family and friends that you are now a member of the Sundowner "Big Man’s 1kg Club".

Breakfast is served daily in our Sunset bistro.

Continental breakfast is included with accommodation (conditions apply).

Senior's Discount

Senior's Discount also applies on presentation of your card in the Sunset Bistro Restaurant for lunch and dinner main menus.

Gaming

The Sundowner has 33 of the latest gaming machines for your enjoyment.

TAB and Keno are available in the Sports Bar, with a wall of 15 screens to watch your favourite race, and is the only venue in Whyalla, which is a member of the "JACKPOT CLUB".

If you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a quiet drink with family, friends or a business associate, try the Gaming Bar for a cold local or imported beer, spirit or a glass of wine.

If you need some drinks to take away, drive through our Thirsty Camel Bottle Shop. One of our experienced staff can help you with our huge range of wines, beers, and spirits. You can also park your car, come on inside and browse through our large range of weekly specials.

Our Thirsty Camel drive-in bottle shop has all year round competitive prices and we regularly publish discount vouchers on our bottle shop page so come back often and see if you can snare one.

Have your next function at the Sundowner Hotel. We can cater for any function large or small for up to 80 people seated and 120 for cocktail or standing functions.
